CHEER TRYOUTS: All welcome to attend cheer tryouts – Tues, June 1, Weds, June 2 & Thurs, June 3rd, from 3:00pm-5:00pm in the Dance Room. No cheer experience required, only School Spirit needed. NEW Culinary Arts Class for Fall 2010: This fall a new afternoon Culinary Arts class will be offered on Tuesdays and Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Chaparral High School. The instructor is an amazing chef who has traveled the world with his craft. If you are interested in signing up for this class, see Mrs. Aragon in the Guidance Office CLASS OF 2012! T-shirts have arrived Sophomores! They are $10.00 during this 3 week pre-sale (May 24 – June 11). After that they will be the full price of $12.00. CONGRATULATIONS to Robert Gonzales & Jazmin Harrell, for their success at the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions! Jazmin was a semi-finalist in poetry interp & Robert made the semi-finals of prose interp! Robert also placed 6th, in the Nation, in Sports broadcasting!! Congratulations to Anka Landrum, Stephanie Flores, and Jacquelyn Acuna-Brown for their awards at the 24th Annual Grossmont Union High School District Student Art Show. CONGRATULATIONS! Anthony Tran, Jorge Lebaron and Jacob Lechien! They came in 3rd place in the Grossmont Valley League last week! This week they play in the San Diego section, CIF Boys Tennis Tournament. Good Luck Fellas!! New Class: We are offering Piano as a separate class next year. If you are interested in taking piano class and earn a required performing arts credit then go see your counselor now. Learn the basics but also progress to learn your favorite songs. This is very exciting and we hope to see you next year in piano class! Mandatory Boys Tennis meeting during lunch, tomorrow,Wednesday, in Coach Martin’s room. JV BOYS BASKETBALL Any 9th or 10th grade boy interested in summer (AAU) basketball must attend tryouts tomorrow, Wednesday, May 26th, @ 5:30pm, in the gym. If you have any questions, ask Coach Rowlett in room 119. 2010 SPRING COMEDY! The Mt. Miguel Drama/Speech Workshop is proud to present Hamlet II, a parody. Opening night is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 26th, and the show will run through Saturday, May 29th. The doors will open at 7pm, & the show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $5.00, or $4.00 with an ASB card. Join us in the cafeteria as we have fun with William Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy. Choir- Our Choir Band Spring Concert is today, Tuesday, May 25th, at 7pm in the Gym. Just $4.00 at the door and 12 and under are free. Come see our award winning music programs performing all their festivals music along with guitar and piano showcasing their talent. If you think you have what it takes and would like to be apart of Choir, band, guitar, and or piano next year, then sign up with your counselor right away before the classes fills up. Want to get ready for next year? You can buy anything for next year right now! That's right! Yearbooks, PE Clothes, ASB cards are all available for purchase right now. You can also use a debit or credit card and go online. Check out the web store and click on 2010/2011 Registration. Summer school applications are now available in the counseling office. Hurry! First come, first serve! Tomorrow,Wednesday, May 26th, at 6:30am, the JROTC Corps of Cadets will conduct the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, in front of the school. The ceremony will include the raising of the flag, and the playing of the National Anthem by the school band. If you plan to attend, please pay proper respect by remaining quiet & removing headgear, during the raising of the flag & during the performance of the National Anthem. The ceremony will last approximately 10 minutes. Attention Matador Mediators: We will be having a meeting today, Tuesday, May 25th, during lunch in room 786. Please come to the meeting, we have some important items to go over before the year is out. See Ms. Garcia if you are unable to attend. ATTENTION SENIORS: If you have received scholarships and awards that you would like listed in the Graduation Program, please return your form or see Mrs. Aragon by this Friday, May 28th.
