SATURDAY SCHOOL DATES ANNOUNCED
Students who accumulate more than 10 unexcused absences in a semester may be required to make up absences and/or truancies by attending Saturday School in order to earn credit for the course.
CALIFORNIA HEALTH KIDS SURVEY
On Thursday, November 19th, all Mount Miguel students will be participating in the California Healthy Kids Survey. The survey gathers information regarding student behaviors such as physical activity; nutritional habits; alcohol, tobacco and other drug use; school safety; mental health; and environmental and individual strengths and assets. The purpose of the survey is to help promote better health among our youth and combat problems such as drug abuse and violence. The survey is voluntary and anonymous.

If you would like to examine the survey, you may review it on this website or in the front office of Mt. Miguel High School. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Assistant Principal Jamie Holding at 619-667-6422.

The 24th Annual Grossmont District Art Show
begins Friday, May 21 at 5:30 with the awards ceremony.

Show will be up all weekend and end on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

Golf Success!!!
The 2010 Mount Miguel Men's Golf team is having another solid season with a record of 7-9. Solid performances from Jorgeo Catolico and Jerry Scott, two of the better golfers in the Grossmont Valley League, are reasons for the teams success. Jorgeo Catolico has a 9 hole stroke average of 38 and has medaled (won the match) in 11 matches. He also has medaled in every league match, putting him in position for Player of the Year honors. Jerry Scott, our most improved golfer, has a 9 hole stroke average of 42 and has medaled in 2 matches.

Jorgeo Catolico won the Grossmont Valley League Match Play Cahampionship at Barona Creek and then won the Ed Curtis Grossmont Conference Match Play Championship at Bonita CC. He was undefeated in the month of April, earning him the San Diego Union-Tribune Athlete of the Month. Next up is CIF at Warner Springs on May 18th.
TENNIS in First Place!!!
Tuesday your Tennis team moved into a tie for 1st place by defeating Monte Vista. Come out tomorrow, and see if they can maintain their position against another 1st place team, Santana. Way to go Anthony Tran, George Lebaron and Jacob Lechien for taking all 3 sets against Monte Vista! A Valient Effort was displayed by the entire team. See you today at 4pm.

Seniors please be reminded that families will not be allowed on the field. The reunion area for parents and friends will be the quad. Graduates will not be allowed to wear heels on the field. Leis will be available to purchase for your graduate at the top parking lot.

MIKE LOVE
 
Mike Love is a Mathematics Instructor, who has taught at Mount Miguel for the past fifteen years.  He currently serves as the Math Department Chair and served students in the AVID program for fourteen years.  Mr. Love is the SAAB (Student African American Brotherhood) Advisor.  SAAB “is a nationally chartered program that motivates young men of all backgrounds to commit to principles of accountability, pro-active leadership, self-discipline, and intellectual development.”  Under his leadership, Mount Miguel became the first school in the nation to have a SAAB Chapter.  Mike is a Golden Apple Award Winner who has worked with the Upward Bound Program, and in 2008, received the San Diego State University SAAB Distinguished Leader Award.
